Surgically-guided zygomatic and pterygoid implants— a no-grafting rehabilitation approach in severe atrophic maxilla—A case report
نویسندگان
چکیده
No immediate loading was performed. Four months after surgery, the implants were loaded, and an excellent aesthetic and functional result was achieved with no increase in bone volume from bone grafts. The entire residual bone was used as an anchorage for the implants. The excellent results achieved demonstrate that zygomatic implants in association with other conservative and guided surgical approaches are a valid alternative to bone grafting in treating severe atrophic and edentulous maxillae. Conclusion In this case report, the accurately planned surgery made the use of local anaesthesia with intravenous sedation possible.

Rehabilitation with zygomatic implants: a treatment option for the atrophic edentulous maxilla--9-year follow-up.
This article reports the 9-year clinical outcome of the two-stage surgical rehabilitation of a severely atrophic edentulous maxilla with a metal-resin fixed denture supported by implants anchored in the zygomatic bone and the maxilla. After clinical and radiographic examination, zygomatic implants were inserted bilaterally and four standard implants were placed in the anterior region of the max...

متن کاملRehabilitation of Posterior Maxilla with Zygomatic and Dental Implant after Tumor Resection: A Case Report
Zygomatic implants have been used for dental rehabilitation in patients with insufficient bone in the posterior upper jaw, due to, for example, tumor resection, trauma, or atrophy. Zygomatic implants are an alternative to complex free or vascularized bone grafting and distraction osteogenesis. A 42-year-old male patient with a severe defect in the right posterior maxilla, starting from the firs...
متن کاملA prospective clinical study on titanium implants in the zygomatic arch for prosthetic rehabilitation of the atrophic edentulous maxilla with a follow-up of 6 months to 5 years.
BACKGROUND Prosthetic rehabilitation with implant-supported prostheses in the atrophic edentulous maxilla often requires a bone augmentation procedure to enable implant placement and integration. However, a rigid anchorage can also be achieved by using so-called zygomatic implants placed in the zygomatic arch in combination with regular implants placed in residual bone. PURPOSE The aim of the...
